Created for marine planning purposes.
These are polygon locations of Mid-Atlantic artificial reefs. They were compiled from various sources, including digital data received from state agencies and lat/long coordinates of reef corners found on public web sites. These polygons represent general areas where artificial reef material has been placed; generally the entirety of the polygon is not all artificial reef.

The Nature Conservancy updated a previously created artificial reefs layer by collecting the most current information on reef locations from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York.
The Nature Conservancy copied lat/long coordinates of artificial reef corners from several public web sites (New York, New Jersey, Virginia). Reef boundaries were recieved digitally from Delaware and compiled from several sources for Maryland. These various data sources were then merged into a single shapefile
