Join us Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. for a guided tour of the Portal’s
new coastal and ocean acidification monitoring sites maps and a discussion of the issue in the
Mid-Atlantic. A collection of seven acidification-related maps were recently
added to Marine Planner’s Oceanography theme. Taken together, the maps will
serve as a valuable tool for the
Mid-Atlantic
Coastal Acidification Network (MACAN) and
Mid-Atlantic
Regional Planning Body (MidA RPB) as they develop a robust network that
monitors for changes to the region’s water chemistry. Building this network was
a key priority identified in the
Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean
Action Plan, enacted in December of 2016.
This free webinar will be hosted by MACAN coordinators Kaity
Goldsmith of MARCO and Grace Saba of Rutgers University/MARACOOS, who will
provide an overview of MACAN’s mission and work; and the Monmouth University
Urban Coast Institute’s Karl Vilacoba, who serves as the Portal’s
communications lead. For planning purposes, please RSVP to
kvilacob@monmouth.edu.
