The State of the Science on Wildlife and Offshore Wind Energy Development
The first State of the Science Workshop, hosted by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), is bringing together stakeholders engaged with environmental and wildlife research relevant to offshore wind energy development. Workshop goals are to:
- Engage and inform interested stakeholders about the state of knowledge regarding wildlife and offshore wind energy development, including ongoing efforts to understand, minimize, and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Promote regional coordination by sharing updates on research studies, guidelines development, and other efforts along the eastern seaboard (Massachusetts to North Carolina).
- Promote collaboration through expert information exchange and discussion.
The
workshop will bring together scientists to present and discuss their
research, but it is open to members of the public with prior
registration. The poster session and open house (6:30-8:30 pm on
November 13) is open to anyone and does not require registration. If you
are interested in presenting a poster or having a table for your
organization at the evening open house, please email kate.williams@briloon.org.
A more detailed meeting agenda, registration information, and travel/lodging information can be found at http://www.briloon.org/offshorewindny/workshop.
